The rules below are promulgated by the and govern the admission of attorneys to the practice of law. All applicants are bound by the rules in force at the time of filing.

    Admission requirements

    Sets the eligibility criteria for admission: accredited legal education, good moral character, completion of the MPRE, and successful performance on the Uniform Bar Examination or a qualifying alternative.

    The examination

    Governs the administration, format, and scoring of the Uniform Bar Examination. Includes provisions for examinee conduct, retake limits, and the release of scores to examinees and third parties.

    Character & fitness

    Prescribes disclosure categories, investigative procedures, and hearings for applicants whose record raises character or fitness concerns. Establishes the right to counsel and appeal.

  4. Rule 705

    UBE score transfer

    Allows attorneys who earned a qualifying UBE score in another jurisdiction within the past five years to seek admission without re-examination, subject to C&F review and applicable fees.

  5. Rule 706

    Pro hac vice & limited practice

    Permits out-of-state attorneys to appear in a particular matter before state courts upon application and local counsel sponsorship. Limits the number of appearances per attorney per year.

All fees are nonrefundable. Late filings after the published deadline incur a $250 surcharge per Rule 702(c).
